ATTENTION MISSISSIPPI ECs AND DECs Counties with stations in EOCs are asked to check into the Mississippi Section Phone Net on the first Thursday of each month. See complete details below.
A key element of the cooperative relationship between MEMA and ARES/RACES is that local ARES/RACES Units will provide communications between MEMA and county EOCs, if primary communications fail during an emergency or disaster. In order to exercise our capability to do this, ECs in counties with ham stations installed at the local EOC are requested to check into the MSPN (3862 KHz starting at 6:15 PM) on the first Thursday Night of each month when your county is called.
This is an excellent opportunity for ARES Members to become familiar with station equipment and to learn net procedures. In the event the EOC ham station is not accessible because the MSPN net time is outside of normal business hours and the EOC is locked, check in from your home station using the EOC Station Call.
